As you can see, my name is Shane Kenny, and I have completed my four year Architecture course at third level in University College Cork.

Stepping into the real world considering the current economic climate is a challenging task in this industry, but I am confident that with some time things will pick up and that it will be easier for people like me to locate work. For now I am looking for a chance to make an impression and offer my skills to a firm on an internship basis, while gaining invaluable experience before I launch into my goal of completing a masters degree in the future.

I am an ambitious, diligent and passionate individual with a keen interest in careful, logical and creative design. As with anything I pursue in life, I go with my instinct and back myself to produce good results, with motto’s such as “nothing ventured, nothing gained” and “fail to prepare, prepare to fail” epitomizing my mentality.

I am passionate about doing things right, and I am often the most critical analyzer of my own performance and work. I strive for perfection and I will always persist to improve my own designs and skills. I enjoy the personal aspect of the design process, whether it be researching the history of a site or engaging with the client to produce an outcome which is satisfactory to their visions.

Besides all that, I always try to be myself in all walks of life, and what people see is what they get. I regard myself as an easy going guy, with a light hearted nature and I always try to look at life with a positive attitude.

In terms of software, I am proficient in the use of AutoCad, Photoshop, and SketchUp, while I am currently learning Revit and Rhino to enhance my design skills. Like everybody else I am proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software.

I love to sketch, and I always use my sketchbook to produce design proposals or tease out issues. Technical drawing was my best subject in secondary school and continued to be a strong presence in my studio work. I am also used to making the odd freehand 3D model when required.

Measuring tapes and laser levels are not foreign to me either, and I have surveyed buildings and sites for different projects in the past.

Part I Architecture Intern at Michael Williams Architects & Associates, Tralee, County Kerry from June 2014 - August 2015.
In the summer of 2013, I also did work as a laborer on various residential construction sites around San Francisco, and this gave me a valuable insight into site work and dealing with clients.

[Sep. 2010 – Oct. 2014] graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Architecture from CCAE (Cork Centre for Architectural Education) affiliated with UCC University and CIT Institute of Technology in County Cork, Ireland.
